Reflecting on the Best Christmas Gift Ever

I was having a conversation with a gal the other day about teaching our kids that Christmas is not about getting gifts. While reflecting on this conversation and the topic, as much as I agree this is not the message or reason for Christmas giving it took me back to my own childhood of living in poverty. Reflection on Time-Out’s as a Child

During my childhood, the solution to not being good, to not doing things right and my mother's frustration with me was to send me to a time-out. A time-out meant spending time in a closet or a dirt cellar. Given a choice, I preferred the closet as she insisted the lights be off so I would do my thinking in the dark. With this rule, my time in the dirt cellar meant enduring bugs and mice crawling on me. Her other rules included that I was not to get my clothes dirty or wrinkled and I was to

Reflections of a great love…

I am often told by people that I meet that they see me as a risk taker. Someone who is not afraid to try something new, to take a chance even if the odds are not in my favor. Although I rarely speak of my faith, as I feel this is a private choice, and I reflect on these comments made by my friends I know that my freedom to try new things comes from my knowing that “God has my Back”.
